To help improve nutrition, GHP supports several garden projects.  Organized as self help groups, they grow food that they can both use and sell.  As can be seen the water is nearby, but irrigation requires a gas-engine pump.  GHP purchased pumps, but they have been difficult to maintain forcing members to carry water from the river in buckets. One group has begun growing tomatoes in a green house.  Asked about challenges, the group said hippos are a constant worry.  They come out of river and trample the gardens at night.
